What means RoHS?
The RoHS-Directive (RoHS = Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances) is an EU directive, which intends to reduce the amount of dangerous substances escaping into the environment in all countries of the EU uniformly. The disposal of these substances can be harmful to both humans and the environment if released unchecked. However, if we prevent using these substances in production, the risk of a later pollution of the environment and one´s health is reduced by oneself.
The RoHS-Directive
For the reason mentioned above since 1st of July 2006 no machinery and electronic equipment may be placed first, which contains one of the following substances (with the exception of certain explicitly delineated areas of use):
Lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr +6) and die polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
What means "lead-free"?
Although the term "lead-free" is often used in the field, it doesn´t mean, that the RoHS directive is kept by substitution of lead.
What means WEEE?
The EU directive on the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) the manufacturers are legally obliged to recover the separately collected WEEE. The taking of responsibility for their products by the manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment begins with an environmentally friendly design and production up to the take-back and disposal of the old equipment.
The WEEE-Directive
The Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) as the competent authority founded the Clearing House „Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte- Register“ (EAR) on 6th of July 2005 as designated authority vested with sovereign tasks according to §17 ElektroG (see also www.stiftung-ear.de).
Every manufacturer (resp. importer), who first places electrical and electronic equipment on the German market after the 23rd of November 2005, has to check on its own behalf and responsibility, if its product falls under the scope of ElektroG. If affected he must register oneself with the „Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte- Register“.
Our Contribution for You
Of course PLUG-IN Electronic GmbH as importer of equipment, which is also produced outside the EU, keeps its responsibility. In close cooperation with our suppliers we move our whole portfolio to RoHS complaint products and participate with the disposal according to the WEEE directive. Even today we can offer a large number of articles which are complaint to the RoHS directive. We are registered as importer at the "Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte-Register" (EAR) with the WEEE registration number: DE 63704764.
